Not that the joke has a lot of impact these days…
Most DJ apps have the ability to output the final mix to one “ear” and the deck you want to preview to the other “ear”… this way you can split the output and send the final mix to the PA, while the monitor goes to your headphones. As many club systems are mono, having a stereo signal going out to the PA doesn’t matter at all.
