A Way To Change Vsti Values Using The Keyboard...

Hi,

I’m not sure if this is a stupid idea… But I think this kind of feature would be really useful to better the workflow in Renoise. This would need a keyboard shortcut (like alt+shift that seems to be free) to jump the keyboard focus into editing the VST parameters using the keys.

After the focus is changed to the VST (effect or instrument currently open) there could perhaps be a white round box around the knob or something - and you could change the values just by using the cursor keys…

you can use the keyboard to set a value in the automation:

since 1.9, where you see “-3.333db”, you can double-click and set the correct value.

since with automation you can control the values of VST parameters, this seems enough to me.

yeah… This idea just came into mind while playing with Argurus Voyager synth… I thought it would be so cool to make the sound using the cursor keyboard while playing it… :)

This would be handy only in those cases where the user wants to create the sound he/ she wants to use in the song from scratch… or perhaps too for some other major tweaking of the presets.

How do you other guys feel btw.? Is the mouse a bit limiting factor when composing?

I’m finding ways to either control all plug-ins via midi or keyboard…

This has been present ever since the days I tracked with FT2 where the workflow was just amazing because there was absolutely no need to touch the mouse.
