I’d like to suggest an idea to enhance the Renoise sampler. It would be amazing to have the ability to add multiple VST instruments layered within a single sample, allowing for the creation of more complex and rich sound textures. For example, this could enable combining sounds from different synthesizers or effects directly within the sampler.
If such a feature already exists or is planned, I’d love to know how to use it.
Good idea. I would like to suggest another solution which may be a bit more flexible.
First column is the instrument number, second the group number. The second row is just for reference, you would always trigger the first column (the instrument). This way it would be possible to mix different instruments and also trigger single instruments, even if they are part of a group.
I’d like to see this feature become a reality but also have the ability to combine MIDI instruments as well. It would be much needed since in order to achieve a similar effect like this, you would have to compose instruments together which is inefficient and time consuming. I like Sebastian’s idea for grouped instruments. I think it would also be great if plugin instruments can have their own effects stack like the sampler does to add even more more depth to sound design capabilities.
One thing I would add to this is the ability to collapse and expand instrument groups so that the instrument menu wouldn’t get cluttered when it’s not needed to tweak individual instruments.
Yes, I thought about collapsing too, but was too lazy to Gimp it into the mockup.
It would be great if every instrument will still be treated as it’s own, as it is now, but if they could be grouped easily so it would be possible to use the same notes and pattern effects for multiple instruments to speed things up a bit. It is possible now by duplicate a track, but especially with a collapse feature it would be easier to handle and would save space in the pattern view (ok, this can be done, sort of, already by using track groups) and the instrument list.
On the other hand, my suggestion will not make it possible to distribute multiple instruments on the keyboard, like Jalex initial request (sorry for hijacking your thread).
Maybe the Renoise developer(s) have a good idea on how to implement such feature, if there is any interest and time.
