Nice idea, but would only work as expected when the plugin happened to support polyphonic aftertouch…
After all, we are talking about controlling the volume of individual voices.
In the same way it would be possible to control plugins using Ix/Ixx and Ox/Oxx commands…

Ooh nice! I knew somehow I did forgot that! Some VSTis starting to produce such nice and unexpected results with such short notes! For example try TAL Noisemaker 
Guys, could you add two new sections/submenus to the fx command’s popup list: “panning column commands” and “volume column commands”,

And so that the “panning commands” also will contain all info from the doc section “panning + volume commands” (and also the volume commands)?
Would be helpful to have it right in the place in Renoise!

Oh, and if you’ll consider to add those sections, could you think about to add an “instrument commands” section, too? Which contains all sample commands that work on a VSTi… At least me I find it confusing which sample command I can use or not with a VSTi.
