Just like in Ableton, please also provide the “system audio device” as choice.
Ableton:
Since the system device is a flexible device, which selects the last possible / accessible device automatically. This feature is essential for mobile devices (e.g. Notebook). You often will disconnect from a stationary usb audio device, or using a docking station, and then only the internal audio device is available, or another one. In this case Renoise currently “forgets” about your usb audio device, and selects the last one in the list, in my case often my HDMI monitor. Next time you connect it, you then will have to manually re-select the usb audio device again. Which is quite cumbersome and also can already happen on sleep.
