AKAI midi mix- setting map

Hi.
Im just setting up an akai midimix and wondered if anyone else had this problem.
for the mute and solo selection l can only get the button to work in “mute on” i cannot press the same button to turn “mute off”.

Was able to get the MidiMix to mute/unmute properly by unchecking “Prefer setting…”:

I can get the solo button to work as an on/off switch
but l wanted the mute button to select/deselect and i just cant figure it out,
