Akamai

What do you guys who use windows think of this?

This thing keeps wanting to install on my windows pc and I finally blocked it because of it’s intrusive installation style.
I have an idea it’s used by Steam, and some other content providers but exactly what it does or why I need it seems cryptic.

is there much difference in speed if you disallow it?

Well Akamai is a company, they do a bunch of stuff but probably what you’re seeing is the Electronic Software Delivery part.
So unless it’s some malware that spoof the Akamai name then it should be safe.
As far as I know Windows Update use that, lots of others as well.

I still don’t know what to think about it but I, did see this last night:

A bunch of different graphs, using server’s with it and people’s computers that have it installed I gather.
