Allow To Load .xrns Etc. As Samples

When in “sample mode” in diskop, double clicking a .xrns, .mid (prolly for .mod and .xm too, didn’t check) results in Renoise trying to load it as a song, not as a sample… could that at least be optional? Maybe there could be a “IKnowWhatIAmDoing = true;” in some .ini file for stuff like this?

“sample” option in the diskop is purely for the “saving file-type”.
To load samples from an XRNS, click on the tiny “+” sign in front of the xrns song and when the list is unfolded, select the sample you want to load.

I agree that some kind of right-click and context menu option like “load instruments from song” would make life easier or that “instruments” are unfolded as well instead of just samples.

Ah, okay. Pity though :D

No, you misunderstood, I wasn’t really suggesting anything remotely useful

More nostalgic/experimental: I meant “load whatever you want as (raw) sample”.

Change the filename extension, right-click and then select “load with options”, then you can load it as a raw sample.

Also XRNS are zipped and or flaced, so you also can load /any/ other binary files like your swap page file instead. You wont “hear” artifacts of the contained samples because of the zipping and flac fomats. Rename your .xrns to .raw (or whatever) if you really want to hear that binary randomness…
