Is there a way to sync 2 computers via MIDI if you only have USB ports to run through? Is there a way to, for example, run Renoise on one computer and Ableton on another, and have them synced properly?

My controllers, of course, have MIDI in and out (I have a Korg K49 and a Novation Remote Zero) but my VAIO laptop and self-built PC obviously don’t have MIDI ports.

If you can establish a network connection between the computers using a USB cable, you should be able to use something like MIDIOverLAN, ipMIDI or ethernetMIDI. Also, Tobybear has created a couple of free utilities (NET2MID/MID2NET): http://www.tobybear.de/p_midibag.html
