so here’s a few little preview clips of a game i’ve obsessively been working on for a while now. it’s an interactive art gallery/music video (for my album of the same name.) all the music and sound effects are done with renoise so i thought it might be of a little interest here on the board.
Wow that is some intense dedication. It looks really impressive.
At a curosity, what do you mean when you say the sound effects were done in renoise? Did you do the sound design with a VST and render out one note, or are you incorporating pattern programming into your sound design?
thanks man. it’s a little of both. i’ve been using vsti’s, samples, and silly noises made with my mouth with the line-in device :)so yeah, i’ll usually make an 8/16/or 32 note pattern, and combine about 3 or 4 tracks of audio depending on the sounds i’m making. some of the sound effects however are additive (set to the same bpm as the back track, like the robots with the large sensor beams, they chant along to the music) i have to say the sound design has actually been my favorite part of the process. it’s a whole different approach than music, hopping in to make a bird tweet or a jump sound and trying to figure out how to make it happen quite fun!
i’ve got the first track done (out of a total of 4 tracks.) each track will have 4 zones and 3 bonus tracks/1 boss intervention (with 4 short remix/derivative tracks based on the original track.) so all in all, 16 zones and 12 bonus/4 boss, so i’ll be a busy boy for the foreseeable future thanks for the feedback!
Nice! Got a Jeff Minter feel to it.
Playable Alpha of Track A (4 zones & 4 bonus zones)here if anyone wants to give it a whirl
