I guess I haven’t officially announced it so that it is clear what has transpired… A fellow I met on the SunVox forum some years ago (VanJac) Discussed fixing Aodix 4.2… He contacted Zafer Kantar who agreed to open source it, this has been years ago now so then he went onto fixing the long-standing issues… Which appear to have worked I have had no real problems so far at all and the plugin aspect is quite robust now, even running the old freeware SensoMusic Usine’s inside it no problem & much other… It also has an actual WAV render rather than dealing with RAW audio which was a terrible process as if you did it wrong all you would get is noise…
Being a machine hookup tracker he also improved that viewport so it’s easier to see pins & more… MIDI plugins inside Aodix interplay with VSTi & VST that have MIDI ins-outs seamlessly…
It is already the most fluid vertical piano-roll & tracker combo in a ‘tickless’ environment whereby you can even slide notes under each other if needed offering on-point resolution for fluid composing…
I plan on uploading some extras to archive.org like the skins from the long-gone audiobolics site as well as hard to gather MIDI plugs plus meters & stubby mixers that work with it…
The only thing I don’t like about Aodix 4 is the ‘knob tweak’ automation but I have found ways to hook MIDI plugs inside Aodix to run curves from triggers for pitch bend, modulation & such for a more accurate outcome that can be gently ‘massaged’ into shape rather than having to redo a critical knob tweak over & over till you fall over puking…
In these GIFs I actually still have quantize on so if off even more fluid-
Note (Enhanced Version) in titlebar… You can also install right over old 4.2…
Just uploaded Sensomusic Usine Free VSTi 4.01b to archive.organism… This works fine inside the new Aodix fork, failed in some other hosts though with much more to test in… This may work fine if you have a 32bit Renoise going as well…
I have a version 5 VSTi Also like 4-5 standalones but they will all get ‘their own page’… Why? Well when archive.organism ‘scans’ for ‘metadata’ either now or future if there’s something they ‘don’t like’ they delete whole posting no matter how ‘free’ it was without cause or notice… Also developers can contribute to have ‘problems’ with their metadata, still no care for how ‘free’ it was…
Anyways here’s GIF of ‘their’ version 4 Pro… Yeaaaahh!… The colors make it look like ableton but don’t worry it’s better than that-
Now one can draw pitch bends inside Aodix, even exotic ones that would be extremely difficult to ‘Hand Tweak’ unless you spent hours overdubbing again & again… But these can be used for anything else as well even easier because you only need the MIDI plugin ‘MIDIConverter3.DLL’ if you are targeting a pitch bend as it is a bastard signal not one of the 128 MIDI CCs…
Here you see I captured it running with pitch bend triggered on another circuit that makes no sound, it’s just a trigger note to start the envelope running in MIDIseq-
The actual sounding note is being triggered by CC-Rider.DLL into ReFX Beast… It passes notes/audio so can be used this way not a necessity here but it has good feature that might come in handy as song progresses as it converts any VST parameter automation into MIDI CCs for whatever plugin it is attached to… So in Aodix you could knob tweak a VST parameter recording such & hook it into say CC#1 which is modulation…
Neither CC-Rider nor MIDIConverter3 have GUIs but here anywhere in the tune I place a very short trigger note the MIDIseq will run creating exact same pitch bend quite adjustable to get ‘just right’… doesn’t matter what note beast is playing this could also be hooked up in tandem with another instrument so it had same pitch bend as Beast if doing some unison sort of thing…
One problem with Aodix is the ‘ASIO Only’ aspect… What if ASIOs not working on a machine at all or there’s poor integration with Aodix & a particular ASIO?… I simply eliminate Aodix output altogether & route to Voxengo Recorder which will either record audio or divert to MME driver…
Well, That’s a bit off-topic… I been either leaving forums with both middle-fingers up or been booted out since 2004 mostly because I don’t self-censor, If someone locks horns then so do I… And this is all kinda forums not just music, CG, survival, book clubs, etc… Many of these forums no longer exist anyways… This one’s OK, not much traffic but no ads which is a big plus nowadays…
As to KVR I was advising someone not to install the freeware Firebird as it has malware in it that mostly hunts for toneTWO products but that I found that Firebird has some good sounds & I might make some SF2 out of the output which is perfectly legal, He went unhinged like I said I was gonna nuke the world & then got markus fein/krause (he took his wife’s last name) onto it all then i had to lock horns even providing evidence he had apologized for putting all the crap in his plugs BUTT! Over at KVR the developer always wins no matter if you are right or not….
So law of averages means I’ll probably eventually be on no forums but care not as in 6 months there probably won’t be an internet at all or will be very different looking at what’s going on with the war machines…
