Automatic deselection in pattern editor upon navigation

It would be great to have an option to make it so selections go away as soon as you press an arrow key to navigate in the pattern editor. This is how it works in every other tracker I’ve used. I know this is something that has been requested now and then for a decade - hopefully now is the time! I always find it troublesome how selections insist on being so retentive.

Related; it would be great if clicking somewhere with the mouse didn’t by default make a new selection. Only when starting the drag the mouse after clicking the selection could appear.

These could both be perfectly optional of course.

Would either be doable using custom tools?

i wanna understand a bit more about this.
do you mean, you select say 3 rows of pattern editor data, and navigate to another pattern, and by going to “next pattern”, the selection goes away? or that you move cursor up down left right and the selection vanishes?
