Apologies if this is already common knowledge. I discovered this by accident and then used it in a song. Put a drum loop on a track with the gate on a snare setting. Add a bass-line (I used a Synth 1 patch) on the same track. The bass kind of syncs with the snares, which is really quite cool. Worth trying.
