can even happen on macOS / Renoise with regular script that just tries to save a file.

this screenshot is taken on macOS11.5.2, so Big Sur, Apple Silicon, and Renoise version is 3.5.2
could you post some details of which macOS version you’re on, intel, Apple Silicon? which specific version? and which Renoise version are you running, please?
@taktik is the solution to update to a newer macOS, or is there something that can be done?
I just ended up emailing dblue and they sent me a link to download a better version of glitch
