BPM MIDI CC Mapping Value Range

Hi, I’m trying to map a MIDI CC to the BPM parameter but the min/max values are 60 and 187 respectively, and I would like a wider range than that. The min/max options are grayed out in the MIDI Mapping menu.

Is there another way to change the range of mapped values for this parameter?

Any help would be much appreciated.

Hi. BPM goes from 20 to 999 values. The maximum range for a limited spin wheel or fader is 128 values. In this case, to reach a higher range, it would involve skipping/ignoring values (instead of 1,2,3,4,5,6, it would be 1,3,5,7, or something like that, or 1, 5, 9 …). 999 is a much larger value than 128. Therefore, it loses precision.

I will always recommend everyone to buy MIDI controllers with infinite spin wheels.

Have you tried to manipulate the value of “Map Mode”? See if Min, Max can be manipulated then to reach a more suitable range…

Hi there, thanks for the reply. Yeah I can understand why it would map the CC in one BPM increments. I can’t change the MIN/MAX values in the MIDI Mapping menu for the BPM as they are grayed out. Is there a way to change the mapping elsewhere?

yeah, this is the way (or one way) to do it. make a hydra on any track you want… maybe the master track for simplicity’s sake; set the destination track of out1 (or whatever) to master, target mixer and transport, target bpm, set your range, then control hydra input with a midi mapping. should work. you will get fractional bpm output tho, not sure if this matters in your case
