I agree, its just a starting point for a noob, its not the best or only way to do it it just answers his question in relation to tightening the break up a bit.

Yah… the fact is, all those huge DnB acts that process the shit out of the amen don’t even really HAVE an amen in the end. They resample with added drum hits from other breaks and from programmed 808s/909s/other.machines so that the amen sounds huger than it ever was in the beginning. The reality is, the breaks they use are custom programmed monsters that don’t even really deserve to be called an Amen. Remember the Tramen? Case in point.
Either way, bashing the tutorial is equally as silly, guys. Using resources such as this is a completely valid way to learn, and one should not be indirectly patronized because they didn’t already know. I’m glad that was posted because possible the biggest thing this tutorial showed me is that these ARE standard methods of treating breaks… and not just something I thought up. Now of course, I must search for much different ways of making music, because GOD FORBID I do something even remotely close to well known artists… I might just end up sounding identical to them, and forever be plagued with the same creative ideas those artists have. Cursed tutorial! DAMN YOU TO HELL!!!

My point was that tutorial was a big shiny golden box wrapped in silk and with a nice big red bow on it, but the contents of it have basically already been covered in this thread.
I didn’t mean to bash anyone posting it as much as i meant to bash the magazine printing something that elaborate to explain something that limited (tighten up the breaks by gating out dead air and compressing the attacks, who woulda thought eh).

you guys just pick and pick and pick, i thought this was a community.Why would anyone post an indepth tutorial?? … Im sure most of us could but why bother if people are going to rip it apart?
Lets face it we all have different ways of working, there is no right or wrong and i was just merely trying to give the guy some basic pointers it wasnt really aimed at any of the more advanced users.
