Computer keyboard used to work just fine for playing notes, until today. I load up Renoise, and, not only can the computer keyboard not play notes, I can’t even toggle Edit Mode with ESC. The only place in Renoise that the keyboard now works is in textboxes (searchbars, etc.). It’s extremely bizarre. Any help would be appreciated.
EDIT: Renaming KeyBindings.xml fixed all issues.
It would be helpful to provide a detailed explanation of the environment and circumstances.
Do you have a plugin window open where the keyboard option is checked on the lower left side? If so and when this open window is active it has priority for the keyboard it doesn’t work on the sequencer until you click on the sequencer or if you close the open plugin window. Or uncheck the keyboard option on the open window.
What do you mean by “environment and circumstances”? If, by “environment”, you mean OS, I’m on Windows 10. Other than that, I’ve got nothing. I can’t think of anything I might have done to cause this.
It isn’t just when using plugins. I cannot use the computer keyboard for ANYTHING in Renoise, except in the searchbars to search for things.
For now, how about renaming KeyBindings.xml and restarting?
If that doesn’t work, try renaming Config.xml and restarting.
After that, you should be able to find any issues in the Config or merge past settings into a properly functioning version.
