Controlling VST parameters in FX column?

I seem to recall someone talking about how to do this somewhere, can somebody recap this for me? I though there was a way to control VST parameters in the track column but I can’t find it!

You need to add an instrument automation on the track. Then choose the parameter and it will show up in the FX list …
