Crash when closing Renoise with Mbox Audio Interface

Description:

After having a track open if I close Renoise it freezes with a message that says “Shutting down audio subsystems.” I can only close it if I force it to shut down with task manager. From that point on any application I run that uses audio will crash immediately until I restart my computer.

Repro steps:

  1. Launch Renoise

  2. Open a track

  3. Close Renoise

  4. Observe a the frozen application

Expected Results:

Renoise will close unhindered. Audio will continue to work fine.

Actual Results:

Renoise locks up with the message "Closing the application (Closing audio subsystems). Audio can no longer be heard in any application. Any application that uses audio will crash immediately.

Extras:

  • This did not happen until I started using the Pro tools “Mbox” 3rd generation audio interface. If I unplug my Mbox the application no longer happens

  • If I do not load a song Renoise will not crash.

  • If I load a song and then create a new song before closing Renoise, it will not crash.

  • If I load an old song that did not crash before I started using the Mbox it will still crash.

Edit:

It’s been crashing reliably for a few days now but I just tried restarting my computer and then unplugging my mbox after it has fully rebooted, running renoise, closing it, then plugging my mbox back in then running renoise and closing it and it did not crash that time. I’ll try restarting my computer again and leaving the mbox plugged in the whole time and see if it starts crashing again or not.

So I restarted and it does crash again now that I’ve left it plugged in since startup. If anyone would like me to I could do another test following the sequence I did previously that left it not crashing to see if that is a reliable way of stopping this issue. I don’t know if that information will help at all though…

Yep, very similar problems here - Renoise freezes when reaching (closing MIDI subsystems) phase while trying to quit - using latest Renoise, Win10, external E-mu 0202 interface
