Being able to select and edit an area of two patterns crossing, which would be great if you want to for example edit a melody which starts at the end of the previous pattern.
I would like something like this too, but how?

It’s soon Redux time I presume, but after that I also hope there will be more activity in this forum. By time we can only hope that the developers like the idea and will implement it.
Sorry to throw a bit of complexity into the mix…
But any such operation would have to take into consideration that the two patterns might actually be the same one - due to the ability to repeat / alias patterns in the pattern sequence.
So, either Renoise should play smart and assume that the pattern being edited should automatically be made unique, or play dumb and just let you edit the pattern - and thereby affectingthings in multiple places.

Thanks for the reflection. But obviously this is a feature for unique patterns. In case of a repeated pattern, the most logical thing - after an operation like this - would be that both patterns would change in the same way (in the end and in the beginning of both in the animation example.)
A more long lasting solution in my opinion is detaching renoise from the single pattern-centrism altogether.

Could you please elaborate ?
