Cutting volume on send tracks

I’m looking to gate some delays on send tracks using effect commands rather than using automation since that’s quite tedious. Surely there’s a way to do this right? Xxx Isn’t doing anything and Lxx only changes the pre-fader volume.

You can use the fx column to control device chain items as well.

For example, if you have a Gate device on a send as the only device, 11BB sets the threshold to -16 DB.

1000 and 1001 turn the device off and on.

You can see what values do what by switching the recording of automation from being sent to automation envelopes to being recorded in the fx column.
