Cycle Through Instruments W/ Keyboard

Is there a keybinding that allows you to cycle through the instruments in the instrument box w/ the computer keyboard w/o having to draw focus to the instrument box?? I know there is a way to cycle through samples in an instrument w/o having that screen portion “focused”… I’m referring to the instrument browser box in the top right corner of the interface.

Thanks

Thanks… I guess it would have been more accurate to ask what this function is categorized under in the kb prefs, but I’ll find it from this. I thought I had tried what you’re suggesting, but it only worked if the inst section is focused… Probably my pebkac though, I was scratching out an idea as fast as possible and am tired as hell… Ah rpm month.

You don’t have to dig through the entire list of keyboard shortcuts when you’re trying to find something. You can simply type “instrument” into the search field to narrow down the results. In this particular example, the shortcuts you’re looking for show up almost immediately:

  • Select Previous Instrument
  • Select Next Instrument

I adore the search box in the keyboard config. It’s a life saver. It’s a great nice little feature that makes keys a snap.

I hope something I said didn’t imply I thought finding shortcuts was a pain. I don’t think that part is a pain at all. I just was thrown off since there are multiple keybindings to change the instrument bank.

If I’m editing kb shortcuts which I tend to do a lot of when jumping between OS’s I tend to just print the shortcuts to xml in the default web browser then use the browser’s find command. This way it doesn’t filter the shortcuts by your search criteria which is sometimes nice as you can see other similar shortcuts you may want to change also. You see what you’re looking for in context. It’s also nice to be able to search by actual keybinding “Shift + Command + blah”. You can’t do that in renoise’s search unfortunately.

You are able to do something close to that, as selecting any existing mapping and then entering some keys will tell you if that particular shortcut has already been assigned somewhere else :)

One of the tools that i have started with since the implementation of the midi input properties… Don’t mind the working title:

(yes i’m slow, but i hope to have it done around final)

Since I use 2.8b8 the instruments are not automaticly selected when I select a track. This used to work in 2.7 but now behaves different. I can’t find an option in the preferences to get it back the way it was.

For example:
I’m on track 1 with instrument 1
I select track 2 with instrument 2, but instrument 2 doesn’t get selected automaticly.
So I have to click instrument 2 in the upper right corner. (or use +/-)

When working with a lot of tracks this gets very anoying.
Am I missing something in the preferences? Or is this a bug?

Thank you Jenoki :D
Is was looking in the wrong place.
