What would you class as the darkest synth sound ever? It`s a subjective idea I know, but for me these stand out:
I think the intro song of American Horror Story is pretty dark/spooky
I think this:
@emre_k: good stuff!! Didn’t know that song.
Also, this one comes to mind. Movie is disgusting:
Some flavors of dark i like:
Showing my age here…
The Silent Hill 1 game soundtrack is pretty much full of dark sounds…
Well, not shure if the theremin counts, but it can sound pretty dark or at least eerie.
Cool well a great list of dark songs, but its a dark **sound** I
m after!
Im not saying
Setting Sun` is dark, but the sound before the second chorus is.
Honestly, what do you expect as answers if you only provide a list of songs yourself without context whatever you mean inside. Back to your question then… In my opinion there is no such thing as a dark sound. Anything can be made dark sounding or probably happy too. It’s the way an instrument or sound is played, processed, which scales it uses and even what other sounds go along with it which define a mood in the result for me.
Anything can be made dark sounding
If we are talking about context, and not the sound itself you provided the perfect example: twinkle, twinkle little star.
Also, we have the Devils Interval. Which, of course, can be played on an innocent toy piano
I do believe certain sounds inspire certain moods. But really, how the sound is used is what matters the most.
I guess it’s a lame entry and overly familiar, but it’s still a truly dark synth sound, maybe a bit understated which only helps. The impending doom implied by the cz reinterprets the lyrics into something at least more interesting than the vapid house stuff they would read from the page as.

Each of the songs has a link to a specific time in the song - maybe it doesn`t work for you. I was asking for examples, not an explanation of what dark is
,Who can make the darkest sounding xrni?We should make it into a contest.

Okay so if your up for the challenge - make a SUPER DARK synth sound and add it to this Soundcloud (moderated) group

Maybe I will expand this to other forums, and if it goes well, I might put a deadline on it and offer a prize.
obligatory mention of :
this quietly wobbling bass is immensely dark
