As an adjunct to this discussion, maybe consider adding an ‘absolute song position’ mode to Redux. So instead of triggering patterns with MIDI notes, instead Redux would follow the host transport/timeline and simply provide the tracker interface/functions.
That would still not be the same as having the full power of Renoise coupled to your regular DAW, but it would expand the usefulness of Redux a lot and provide some of the Renoise goodness in a form that resembles how Renoise was great through Rewire.
