When working with the velocity device, I thought it would be nice to disable the relationship between the volume commands (that normally controls the loudness of an instrument, but also the input to the velocity device) and the actual loudness.
For instance by only controlling the cutoff frequency of a LPF it would be possible to emulate how louder notes contain more high frequencies. It almost possible to fake it (less, but still natural relationship between volume commands and loudness) with the hydra device, having one out going to a gainer, with min set to 12db and max set to 0db, but at volumes below 10 the sound starts to disappear…
If I could disconnect the relationship between volume commands and loudness, I feel confident I could make a natural relationship with the hydra + gainer devices. This would enable me to have better sample based, rhodes, for instance.
