I took the habit of using Voxengo SPAN to analyze the spectrum of my track when needed (even though I try not to mix too much with eyes).
I have it set on my Master Channel in my template song, but that’s more of a habit than a real need I think, since I could use the Renoise internal analyzer.
For people using it, do you use the internal one or an external such as SPAN ?
Is the Renoise one capable of analyzing MID/SIDE also ? I do it very rarely with SPAN, but could keep SPAN to do it if needed.
Yes it’s amazing, block size set to highest, To see side channel set channel mix to ‘L+R separately’ or m/s (3.5), I use TDR Prism when I’m in other daws and it’s pretty comparable
Both. I check the internal one just to get a rough idea of what’s happening and I use SPAN in mode “Average” to get an average value of the frequency spectrum of the whole song. BUT I don’t mix according to what I see, I always rely on my ears.
Yeah, I mostly use the default, and even then just to check for very specific things. I’m less crazy about meters than most are perhaps. MiniMeters looks pretty cool though!
I started using more the default Renoise one but keeping my beloved SPAN for some things, what I love about SPAN is the ability to “filter” just a part, so I can just listen to some parts and decide if I feel it really needs something or not, since I prefer to work using my ears than meters
