Doing A Game Soundtrack In Renoise

Hello,

Well, hopefully this isn’t considered spamming my job, but I’m working on a game soundtrack for an independent company. I’ve been use Renoise pretty much for tracking out everything, even recording instruments, and then throw the individual channels into pro tools for the final mixing and tweaking. (This is going to be so much faster now with rewire support :D )

Anyway they have a game website up with samples of the soundtrack, so I can share it now. If anyone is interested in taking a listen it’s here: http://www.botcolony.com/media.html

The youtube trailer, the opening orchestra music and the last 2 minutes of music were all done in renoise. I did a fair amount of the sound design in renoise as well, it’s nice for just messing about with synth patches and layering sounds on the fly. There’s a teeny music player below that with 5 other tracks (it’s a bit wonky, you have to select a track in it to get it to play), all of the tracks used renoise to shape the synths, track the melodies and rhythms, the last 3 almost entirely done in renoise with synths I built in synthedit, sample libraries and some of my instrument recordings.

Nice to see some more advanced AI in a game (the youtube gameplay follows after the first movie)…
I always expected to be able to use vocal commands to play games, but this is really very more sophisticated than i thought :)
This makes signing up for the beta very tempting :P

Your work is so good man. Really enjoying the atmosphere of it all reminds me of Kpax soundtrack which is one of my Favorites.

So inspired.

Thank you for posting.
