Don'T Play Metronome/Sample Previews Through Master Effects

Hello Renoise team, Excellent (beta) release so far.

Maybe it is not new or even a bug, but it strikes me as rather odd that the metronome plays through the master channel.
It responds to the fader, as well as any effects on the channel.
As much fun as it is distorting and warping the metronome clicks, I would expect it to lie “on top” of whatever is playing from the patterns, only added just before outputting the sound to the card/speakers.

Thanks.
Keep up the good work!

this is a issue that the developers are aware of and has talked about before.

devs: can’t the metronome be mixed in with master audio right before audio output?

Metronome should not go to master track, also there should also be some sort of volume control for the metronome in the settings.

That’s indeed a kinda strange behavior, but it always was like this. Not meant as an excuse, but I’m not sure if we can quickly “fix” that away now for 2.7.

IF we don’t manage to do this for 2.7, we definitely will try for the next updates. Maybe can then also offer a few more options, like where to route it to, at which volume it should play and so on.

In that case, I think the metronome and previewing samples in the disk browser are related and should share the same options

Nice idea.

also, volume adjustment for the metronome would be nice.

Not what you want, but if you like to change it now, you can adjust or replace the sample the metronome consists of somewhere in the install folder.

bump.
i noticed if you have some noticable effects on the master channel the metronome is put through those effect as well such as filter or delay.
sometimes with a compressor on it makes the metronome very hard to hear. with delay it’s kind of funny.

i would put this under bug-like behaviour.

like i questioned before, wouldn’t it be possible to code an invisible track that’s purely for the metronome and mix this with the Mst track output then output this final mix to audio instead of directly from the Mst track.
I’m not much of a coder but i theorise…
