Doom

Nothing to do with the game or the comic book character. More of a current mood thing, really.

But happy Xmas to all!

nice breaks!

sooo nice 90s style dnb

but maybe you might wish to think a bit about the transients, drum attacks for example are very soft and blurred, very little impact, snare not pokes but rubs with a soft sponge. i’m neutral about processing you did to the snare, on speakers it sounds like phased reverb mush popping towards the listener out of the stereo field as opposed to imaging in depth behind the speakers which would be usual…and in a strange assymetrical way…with headphones also weird…my senses tell me some higher freq stuff is out of phase leading to this effect, could be wrong though I only “felt” but not analysed it.

I think you might have a point. This was a quick and rough mix, and it really does sound like there are some phasing issues. Anyway, I think I know what to do with the main snare sound to give it more oomph.

Thanks for listening and commenting!

  1. I have tried to increase the impact of one particular snare. Lots of them are still more stroke-y, but that’s on purpose.

  2. I have tried to improve the mixing of the breaks/drums in general

  3. I have toned down the phasing effect somewhat, but not completely.

  4. I added a filter sweep at a few crucial locations.
