I’ve not used Renoise for a while but thought I’d get back into it again - it’s great to see new content and downloads for the program …and new instruments. That breathes new life into it
Often I wonder in audio programs why you can’t download instruments and install from the app itself - like an instrument app store. Do you think this would be a good idea to implement? A way of browsing instruments easily and installing them from Renoise.
I know it’s no great effort to download instruments and install them to a folder but it’s always nicer from within an app / more spontaneous and could encourage graphics / nice looking stuff.
Anyway good work everyone I will download some sounds now and take a look at all your hard work.

Back when I was part of a small product start-up my partner made an astute observation: “Every feature means a support call.”
As we were developing our software there was a list of features we considered adding, but for every feature you work on you are a) upping the odds of adding bugs and b) not working on something else. Plus, once something is added it can become hard to remove.
It comes down to deciding if what’s being addedsolvesa real problem and addresses a real need, and justifies itself in dev time and support requests.
I don’t see that with tricking out how you can add instruments. I really don’t want the Renoise devs adding bells and whistles and “nice to have” behavior. I’d rather Renoise be kept rock-solid and bugs squashed.
It may be possible to add an instrument browser/fetcher/whatever as a tool.
If I had any feature request it would be to expand the scripting API to allow for more kinds of tools to be added so that the community can add the features people ask for.
(Actually I do have another request: allow me to disable those dopey picture icons that force their way into my posts. I wanted to enter the letter “b” followed by “)” and the editor kept replacing it with some stupid smiley image. Horrible behavior, and I can’t find where to disable this nonsense.)
I only mentioned this as a way of creating a fun element to Renoise…instrument design is always fun ( with skins e.t.c )…perhaps there’s more important things to do…I understand
