Sorry folk, never mind… but basically on Steinberg Backbone, in Cubase you can drop a sample anywhere on the VST. In Renoise you must drop the sample, specifically into the sample window
u cant drag and drop in renoise. U need like a load function inside to synth so u can load samples.
That’s one of the features others are asking for too.

I can drag and drop samples from my desktop into Halion 6 (vst 2 and vst 3 instances)
