Entoptic Phenomena Live Mix

demo of the new live patch i’ve been building in max/msp. this is actually 5.1 but this is a stereo mixdown.

patch in its current state pictured below… designed around the bitstream 3x controller which is used for the performance. the blippy sounds you hear are mostly performed in real-time, as are the granular drones. some additional pre-planned sounds are added with the DJ mixer. Its an update of the previous version which was designed to be rewired to renoise, this time its standalone and has its own basic sequencer facility. the older version of the patch you can get from my website, this version will be available to download as an application in time…

i will be performing with this in new york city this month if anyone is in the area, please come along! http://issueprojectroom.org/2010/04/21/analogous-interactions-ai-presented-by-international-computer-music-conference-icmc/

here’s a proper 17 minute mix with the patch:

Some great sounds in there. Impressive sound quality you’re getting out of Max, no additional treatment to the recorded stereo mix? How is vst(i) implementation in Max/Msp 5, it really sucks in <5.

no additional treatment to the recorded stereo mix?

nope, just to mix the 5.1 file into a stereo one and normalising it

not so great, you can use some but its not really worth the effort imo, it kills any compatibility of your patch for sharing too. like i say i was using renoise rewired to max for the last version of this patch, but this version is self contained and much simpler because i built (or borrowed and built) all the effects from scratch.
