I’ve done a (shallow) search of GOOG and the forum and didn’t find anything on this, but that doesn’t mean it hasn’t been discussed here before. If it has, linky plz if you’ve one.
I’d love it if the devs exposed the Sample List and DSP List as bindable scopes. For those of us attempting comprehensive rebindings, it’s jarring to have to remember to use the factory bindings in a few small (but frequently accessed) scopes.
It screws up my navigation muscle memory in particular, and occasionally causes me to destructively modify the song without realizing it until much later.
Plus all the other stuff that could then be universally rebound (insert, delete, duplicate, rename, copy, paste, etc.)
Just a thought. Renoise is already effing bananas awesome.
Thanks!
Edit: For anyone curious, I’ve doubled down on the use of four-key chunks (asdf, qwer, zxcv, 1234, jkl;, uiop, m,./, 7890, etc.), as directional keypads (for example, Control + A = Left, Control + S = Up, Control + D = Down, Control + F = Right).
Generalized to all four-key groupings above/below the home row, and modifier combinations, this gives a total of ~48+ directional pads, meaning my hands only every need to move away from the home row area when using the mouse. I don’t even need the Left/Right/Up/Down, Insert/Delete/Home/End/PgUp/PgDn, or Numpad blocks.
And Renoises bindings being largely directional in nature, mnemonically at least, most bindings fit into this directional grouping paradigm, and are surprisingly easy to remember, since you’re not remembering specific keys, just specific d-pads + modifier keys.
And most surprisingly of all, I’ve managed to remap every factory binding to conform to this paradigm, more or less.
For easy access to Control, I remap it the to Caps Lock key (with Sharpkeys in Windows and System Preferences in OSX). And I reserve Shift + Control + Alt bindings for toggles and stuff.)
