Description:
Ghost notes create audible “pop” when filter modulation is enabled.
Steps to reproduce:
- Start Renoise.
- Load/create sample.
- Enable sampler filter modulation.
- In pattern editor: Create note-on (with instrument number), followed by ghost note.
- Play (you will hear a “pop” for each note-on event without an instrument number).
Expected results:
Note will play with filter applied at specified cutoff.
Actual results:
Note plays with filter applied, but with an unwanted very short-duration “pop” with a lot of high frequency (possibly low frequencies as well).
Misc. Notes:
Things that “enhance” the popping effect:
- “Purer” samples without noise (unless cutoff is turned very low).
- Cutoff below 1.0 but greater than 0.0.
- Lower resonance.
- Popping happens even if the ghost note volume is set to 00 (so there is no sound, just a pop).
