When I read some comments from people on the right, it just makes me sad. The McCain crowd is so pathetically desperate they are using stupid red scare tactics ala Joseph McCarthy. Do these people even know how taxes work? By their definition, the only form of government that’s not socialist is a state of total anarchy with no taxes at all. Lets see, public schools, public libraries, the fire department, the police force, any public good, are all redistributions of wealth!
And even if it is socialist, who the fuck cares? Capitalism as Adam Smith defined it, had socialist elements. Rich people have ALWAYS had to pay more taxes, even under the Bush administration. Its how it fucking works, its not like McCain is offering a flat tax policy. For fucks sake, we just spent a trillion dollars bailing out private banks! If that’s not socialist, then I have no fucking idea what socialism is.
But all this aside, people are drawing WAY to big a conclusion from the video/audio above. He said the state legislature should deal with redistribution… that’s fucking federalism! Conservatives of intelligence would agree that the supreme court shouldn’t make these decisions! What the fuck is wrong with these people?!
I guess these are the shitheads who have tacitly agreed with the Bush administration and who are now just coming out into the lime light to make asses of themselves. I almost want to vote for McCain just so I won’t have to hear these idiots again… almost.

A vote for McCain is a sure vote for non-negotiable misery. Never protest vote for the worst choice.
A vote for the Democrats will ensure the progressive movement will have some chance of consolidating a lobby that will have significant influence over the evolution politics in the next four years. If you like you have the right to put your vote behind Nader or The Greens to show your support for an alternative movement.
If Obama gets in, the progressive movement will need to amalgamate forces cohesively to form a lobby and or party. It should be the number 1 effort of all concerned instead of any lament of the corporate elite carrying on with ‘business as usual’. The time for realisation and enactment of the common goals for Earthlings, and all they are connected to, is now.
I don’t know what good it would do, Obama and the dems are pretty far from being progessive. example: Obama voted to renew the patriot act (http://obama.senate.gov/podcast/051216-the_patriot_act/index.php). Progressives also have no money (at least relative to oil companies).
I agree with Nader on lots of things (most people do), but he is strongly against nuclear power, which I find absurd. It’s one thing McCain’s got over the other candidates.

Yes, but that’s so morally wrong. Most of these public services should and could be run privately. The point is that with low taxes, the choice how money is spent is more up to the individual who earned it. And that’s how it should be.
Yes, that’s a school book example of socialism and also a big mistake. Instead, the banks shouldn’t be saved and the monetary system itself should be abandoned. What do the speculators learn from this? That they can get away with virtually everything – Daddy will come to the rescue when things go wrong.
Under capitalism (which we don’t have today in any country but in small degrees), companies and banks and investors will operate under the principle of private property. That means that both losses and profits are a private matter. We need to get back to a gold standard and get rid of the worthless paper money system where goverments and central banks can create ‘value’ out of nothing. It’s a fraud and those banks should pay for it, not the tax payers.
It’s sad that to see that so many people don’t know any better that they actually support socialism. It doesn’t work in practice and it doesn’t work in theory.
