Fucking carbon footprint

So I have to ventilate this.
I bought a trigger finger pro a long time ago.
I used it for a while and then put it in the closet where it was lying around for maybe 3 years. Now I wanted to sell it so I tried it. It didn’t work! faders and knobs were jumping and Renoise could not catch midi events.
wtf? So I disassembled it, cleaned it of dust, etc.
Plugged it back in and still the same :frowning:
now after 2 hours of research I found out that the USB power supply is not enough!
I have to power it externally!
And I have a new computer not even a year old.

Now I wondered if I have some USB feature enabled in the bios, although HP doesn’t show much.

EDIT:
No USB power settings :frowning:

Longshot but… have you tried the USB ports on the back of computer; i’ve seen that,
sometimes ports on the front of a pc tower may not provide sufficient power.

also some USB cables are horrible, try all your cables.

I tried everything.
Replace the usb cables (make them shorter), connect to the rear usb.
Only an external power supply of 6V 1A helps.
Then everything is ok. But the buyer already canceled it.
It is interesting that it worked fine on the old PC with the same usb cable :frowning:

Something like this might work if you have the ports spare? One of the USB-A connectors pulls just power, while the other does data and power, they then are joined and continue to whatever is plugged in. Just a matter of finding the right configuration of cable for whatever you need.
