It’d be a nice feature to be able to specify a sample length, like 64 lines per sample, and once it starts recording, it’ll splice the sample automatically into splices of that size. I’m doing this manually at the moment by recording one long sample and then splicing it manually, which can be pretty tedious.

I’d like that, maybe it could place a slice at the top of each loop, if you’re recording while looping.
A trick i often use with longer recordings is to chop it up using the “save each pattern into a separate file” feature.
You can simply open a second instance of Renoise, insert the basenote on top of the first track, then add patterns in the desired lenght and render the track using said feature. Remember to adjust the default -6db headroom or compensate with a gainer so you won’t lose any volume.
