Gain Offset in sample editor

volume is a multiplication
Offset is an addition or substraction
For example , if you have an lfo that only has a positive cycle (unipolar ) , if you multiply it it with a coefficient , it will still have a postive cycle only ,but less loud
If you subtract a constant from an lfo , it will become bipolar

Ah I see, so basically like adding a dc offset device, changing the slider and hitting the fx button?

I even forgot there was one
Yes ,exactly like that

great idea. i’m gonna add this to Paketti.

@gentleclockdivider i need information about what you want this to do. i made one shortcut for -0.5.
are you looking for a dialog that lets you drag a slider between 1.0 and -1.0?
should stuff going above the top teleport to the bottom?
tell me more.
offset by -0.5

and made another shortcut for *0.5
multiply by 0.5

are these doing the right things?

offset is addition or subtraction
I think my posted screenshots are self explanatory
It’s just an easy to get a bipolar saw wave when first drawing a line that is only +1 , then choose fade in, and then offset with -0.5 .
There are other ways to draw saw waves , first half +1 , second part -1( thus a square ) , then fade in first half , fade out second half .

First method is less time consuming

Sure, but do you only want Shortcuts and a menu entry or a few, if so, which Numbers would they be for then
and/OR
Do you want a dialog, and if so, what would it look like, and what would you set.

are we only talking about offset via addition or subtraction, or do we also want fadeins etc?
i could start the ball rolling by writing a line that’s only +1 and then see what else.

basically, yes, this can be done via scripting, no problem, but what kind of methods would you like to control it with. what types of sliders. switches? etc.

if you’re interested in single-cycle waveforms for synthesis in renoise (and in saving time), I would highly recommend New tool: Harmonio

the version in the thread above is the old (and free) one, while the current iteration lives here, along with some other excellent tools: https://martblek.gumroad.com/

Yet , got that tool already
It’s great

hi so let’s try this again.
what kind of a control would it be? would this be a slider in a dialog… a midimapping, 100 shortcuts ranging from 0.1 to 100 values, or?
i can knock it up for you but i need to know what you’re looking for.
otherwise i’ll need to leave it at -0.5 and *0.5.

while you say the screenshots are self-explanatory, and i do get what you’re saying, what i want to know is how do you want it to work.

slider would be great -1 ,1

cool! ok, one more thing. do you want to first move the slider between -1 and 1, and then run “adjust sample”, or should it do it in realtime somehow?

option 1 sounds good ( non real time )

thanks, that’ll make it easier. working on it.

@gentleclockdivider ok is this good enough?
offset dialog

or do you want more stuffs, if so, please let me know with further details.

Looks great

i’ll send you a build over DM.

Since we live in “oh I don’t want Paketti, I just want this feature” type of world, sometimes… Here’s the standalone only-this version.
org.lackluster.SampleBufferOffset_V1.xrnx (1.9 KB)

if anyone has any thoughts on what else this should do, please post them but in an understandable fashion and with descriptions, so people like me can understand what’s being requested.

and yes, it’ll still be in Paketti as that’s where all the stuff i do, will be.

I didn’t mean to insult you , but I just didn’t need all the additional tools .
The single offset tool works great as it is .

Thanks a lot

no worries. it was easy to isolate. and it’s a good addition to Paketti itself.

i’ll eventually work in the possibility of disabling and enabling menu entries so that the footprint of Paketti can be altered, i think there’s a few people who would appreciate that.
EDIT: it’s not very high on my list of things to do so don’t get your hopes up @Jonas
