Seems to work fine here. 10 means slide by a whole semitone per line. So 20 slides 2 semis. Low speed would be G02
, which you then need to repeat for a few lines…
From Effect Commands - Renoise User Manual
Even manual says something absurd. Every 10 is the semitone, but FF makes slide instant. Instant means speed, not semitones. In instrument parameters you can enable glide and choose the speed for glide, but it works only if you play live. Maybe glide is broken is current state?
It immediately glides to the target note.
That makes sense here. How would you describe this instead?
I don’t think it’s broken. The Gxx number is in 1/16ths of semitones per line, so, it’s a rate, and is relative to the LPB value and BPM that you’re working in.
GFF glides to given note instantly without retriggering it, not semitones up or down, this is the only one case where glide works as it should. It glides with speed to given note without this semitone mess.
In another cases glide effect ignores the note next to it. I still think that glide needs some rework or maybe switchable parameter in global options to choose behavior: either semitones or glide speed
Also, I don’t still understand why glide speed (in instrument parameters) works only for live play .
For semitone stuff we have 0Uxx and 0Dxx, isn’t it? I think glide must glide two notes between themselves with speed defined by user in instrument parameters. I understand that I am one against thousands, but this is classic glide for me
