Renoise doesn’t store Phrases/Plugin and Phrases/Midi in the Global Viewport Presets and trying to do so will set it to something else. The Phrases/Sampler View can be stored correctly.
Maybe someone else came across those issues and can confirm. If not, it must be on my side somehow. I use Windows 11 if that matters.
Another thing, Oddsound MTS Free seems to apply the tuning files on all plugins, regardless if MTS tuning is on. If I understood that correctly, directly loading scl files works only on xrni instruments.
Edit 2:
Cleaned up my previous ramblings about MTS-ESP not finding clients, because the plugin SQ8L,Odin2 and Synplant 2 are simply not compatible. Dexed and OB-XD work. Also removed me mentioning paketti, because it had nothing to do with it.
I had the same problem after installing paketti, but then I found the setting and I think it’s fixed now in the current release.
My problem is simply that I want to have the window Plugin/Phrases on the F4 key instead of Editor, because I show/hide the plugin window with “0” on the NumPad and rather have Phrases on a hotkey.
To reproduce : Press F4 to go to Plugin. It’s on Editor by default so click on Phrases, right click “4” on the top right to store it. Now for example press F1 for the track, then F4 and now it goes to Sampler / Phrases instead of Plugin/Phrases, I noticed this with other other views, too… Weird.
It was exactly the issue that Mastrcode described. I found a setting for that and if I read that correctly here, you have changed the behavior. I don’t know where those other problems come from ,but it’s good to know that paketti can be ruled out. I suspected that there might be some left over config file from paketti that interferes with what Renoise reads and writes when the viewport preset is set. Because of that I installed the current paketti today again to see if I find something to set viewport settings, but like you wrote it doesn’t change anything.
hi, hope i can shed some light on this:
when paketti is uninstalled, since it doesn’t do anything to the xml preferences (global views etc) – so it doesn’t like ruin things forever, requiring a reinstall of Renoise.
anyway, what you’re describing now, sounds like a bug or a limitation on the global views.
btw, you might like to try out the Paketti Dynamic Views for creating super-charged global views (accessible via shortcuts). this is what it looks like:
this has been written in the direct response of global views being static to “one view” and me wanting to cycle through a “global view” (Paketti refers to these as Dynamic Views) with multiple cycles. so there’s 8 cycles for each Dynamic View.
if there’s a need for more configuration, i can add more configuration. enjoy!
I narrowed the problem down in my last post to the “Phrases” not beeing stored in the Plugin and MIDI view. If anyone can reproduce it, then it’s probably a little bug. That thing with the MTS-ESP beeing applied to all plugins might be another one. But scl files for xrni work fine. Paketti is a really cool and sophisticated tool, but I feel like only scratching the surface with Renoise. I might not be ready for paketti, yet I used different trackers since the Amiga days, but Renoise is a different kind of beast and I am glad that it exists. There isn’t really anything else like it out there.
