In my opinion, renoise is the best possible software to act as an improvement to the original MPC1000 internal software for live performances on drumpads but there are a few key features missing. One of these is the “sixteen levels” feature of the MPC1000 which was a really nice smooth grain pitchshift which allowed the user to shift up sixteen semitones from the original pitch without changing the speed of the sample.
In renoise I can shift the pitch up or down as many semitones as I want by increasing / decreasing the speed at which the sample is played back, which is fine for short looped samples but doesnt work well for longer samples.
I know there is probably a great third party grain pitch shifter vst but it would be nice to have grain pitch shift included in renoise and controllable by pattern effect commands or in automation lanes.
