Grouping Plugins: Drag & Drop & Where To Place New Groups

For example if I add all drum machines to a group named “drum machines”, this group will be shown under the vendor name and not on root level. If I choose “short names”, no group at all will be shown.

Better would be to show the groups always on the root level of the tree. What do you think?

Short name mode will never show any groups. This behaviour is intentional.

If you want to use groups then you need to show the full names, and you may need to re-organise things a bit until it looks the way you want.

Hm, but short name mode shows favourites, so why not groups? Could there be a option named “show groups” too?

How can I move the multiple group “drum machines” to the root node of the tree?

I don’t understand why it makes any sense if all drum machine plugins are moved to a multiple node “drum machines” inside the vendor node of all the plugins? Isn’t it a bug?

It looks now like this:

Vendor1
 Drum machines
 drum1vst

Vendor2
 Drum machines
 drum2vst

Better would be:

Drum machines
 drum1vst
 drum2vst

Vendor1
 drum1vst

Vendor2
 drum2vst

Ungroup them all first, then create a new group to re-organise them.

Vendor1
 Drum machines
 drum1vst

Vendor2
 Drum machines
 drum2vst

^^^ Ungroup “Vendor1”, then ungroup “Vendor2”. Now you’ll have “drum1vst” and “drum2vst” in a single “Drum machines” group at the root level.

Ok thanks for the info. I don’t think that’s very intuitive and also I miss some drag n drop functionality…

It’s definitely still a work in progress :)
