Hotkey for expand selection

Trying to see if there is any way of assigning the expand function in the advanced pattern operations to a hotkey when I have a selection made in the pattern editor.Cant seem to find it,I can see the Ctrl +f9 expand but that only acts upon the pattern as a whole,any help?

Shift + f9 seems to do the trick for me

Just expands the selection without expanding the pattern
