I want ask if there is the ability to Render a livelooping(livemixing to disk as it heared while playing. The Render to Disk function is net helpfull in this, and a external Programm running for that is not so elegant. Is there a way to do this with Renoise own mechanism or exist tools for that?
It is possible but it depends on the OS you use, so tell us what OS that is first. Note that if you find that using an external program is not elegant, then you may find the other options to be inelegant as well.
The basic idea is to route the output of Renoise back to its input, and then use the instrument record functionality to record live. The easiest approach would be to route the output of your audio interface to the its input, and record. I believe there are programs for Windows and Mac that allow to route audio virtually, while in Linux it is quite simple to do this without much configuration. This would be another approach. In any case, you would have to manage the routing to reduce latency and feedback.
Mrecorder by melda productions and it’s free.Put the vst in the master track and your off.I do this all the time for live mixing/ remixing ,infact many of my tracks are not arranged at all,I made them live muting /unmuting in the pattern matrix and playing with effects live
I always use No23 Recorder, but the Mrecorder @stoiximan suggested seems to be the better choice for recording Renoise stuff. Good suggestion!
Interesting. This explains why you’re looking for hardware. Actually you don’t want to arrange songs, you prefer playing live instead. And you need physical knobs. I this case switching from Renoise to hardware makes sense indeed. Yesterday I just have found out that a guy I know for 12 years now (only on Soundcloud, Bandcamp and some personal messages) also does live recording only. I wasn’t expecting that. But it might be the way you want to act. Have a look:
A lot of producers do this but the drawback in my case is i end up with one audio file so the mix doesn’t always sound very good and cant be better mixed afterwards. This just came to my mind,I wonder if i can put multiple mrecorders in each track and have them record simultaneously then i should have stems…To be continued
If it doesn’t work check Ozone 10. Of course this doesn’t replace a proper mix, but if you’re not satisfied with your mix and you cannot change it, this can help to improve the overall sound. But honestly I don’t understand your mixing issues. If you’re creating a single pattern to arrange a song out of it by using the matrix, why don’t you create a proper mix before you’re playing live? I mean, all you do is to mute tracks, right?! There’s no problem at all to adjust the volumes of your instruments properly before you start your live arrangement. Anyway, let us know if recording with Mrecorder in each track results in stems.
I do but when playing effects live like filters /eq and distortion can easily mess the volume on those tracks.we need to be very careful and usually I am but sometimes mistakes happen and cannot be undone afterwards. Its a bit troublesome sometimes but very rewarding for me,all kind of happy accidents happen that i would never think of .
Volume issues are mostly caused by mids and high ends, You could apply the Renoise de-esser and/or the Supressor by MrZensphere to the respective tracks. And/or maybe an “intelligent” eq such like Gullfoss on top. Try it out and adjust everything before you start to record.
Once upon a time, I could use ReaRoute with Reaper and channel individual tracks over to tracks in Reaper. But last few times I tried to get this going I end up with no sound. Maybe someone here has some ideas on what to try with this.
Mrecorder although instances can be synchronized i can’t seem to find a way to make it record when i push the play button in Renoise ,but Imagelines Edison vst does that ,tested it in a 2 track demo and it worked!!!Now to test in a more busy arrangement an see how it will perform and if my cpu can handle it.
