hi, ive recently gotten an akai midmix. it has a bunch of buttons on it that i can assign to many things, and i was wondering if i could asign a button to play a specific note of my choosing? i tried to figure it out myself in the midi mapping menu but couldnt find anything… could be me missing something but i might as well ask
looks like each of the buttons can send Note Numbers (NT) too, if you edit the settings with the editor.
Each MIDImix control has two editable parameters:
1. The MIDI CC message (CC) or note number (NT) it will send.
2. The MIDI channel it will use to send it (this is useful if
3. using multiple MIDI devices, to separate the channel
4. that the MIDImix communicates via).
The knobs, buttons, and faders can send MIDI CC
messages (CC). The buttons can also send MIDI notes
(NT). To change whether a button sends a MIDI CC
message or MIDI note, simply click it.
it doesnt seem to be doing anything when i press any of the buttons. it detects the input and says what note it is but it doesnt do anything more than that
edit: nvm! the buttons i was pressing just dont work as notes for some reason? ill try to figure it out
edit 2: okay so, when i opened a new file, i could use the buttons as notes, but when i try to use them in another file i have, it doesnt work. it detects them, but they wont do anything
by file, do you mean akaimix editor file, or renoise .xrns song?
.xrns
figured it out: my octave was set to 0 and the button is assigned to a note 3 octaves lower from that, and since that doesnt exist, it didnt trigger
