Hi!
I have a question I couldn`t find except I can do some tricks:
How can I trigger sound to get Trance-like sounding?
for example:
A-213 40
40
00
40
40
00
40
00
00
40
00
It works all well on samples but does not affect VST instruments?
How can I do this but on VST instruments [turning on and off played VST]?
If there is a command for it, Im also wondering - is there possibility to play the same effect but on doubled speed without needing to change from speed 6 to speed 3 to get some fast re-triggers? You know what I mean, like Im using comands like in this example:
The only way I found to get similar effect is to use freeware VST plugin named mgTriggerGate [from mgaudio.de]. It does exactly what I want but it can`t have different presets except I can create another one and change them from command lines.
I’d approach this problem by “Rendering Selection” and applying the volume cuts on that wave instead of the VST.
An other option is putting a Renoise Gainer at the end of the chain and automating it so that it drops down to zero and back again with points.
Finally, trigger the VST’s own volume using the XYZZ effect as described in the tutorials.
[i]X Yzz - Send zz (00 - ff) value to parameter Y (0 - e) of vst/dsp effect number X (0 - e) in the effect rack of the Track Dsp’s. To turn on or off an effect, send value F as Y parameter:
xF00 ? Turn effect x off;
xF01 ? Turn effect x on.[/i]
EDIT: That last suggestion might not work because I just realized you are talking it’s a VSTi. Use Meta Devices instead.
more then likely you would want to do the gating stuff ‘in’ your vsti plugin.
that way you could do this all from 1 of the 4 effects columns.
there should be a volume in it (if they wrote it right!) that you could control with CC or easier the vsti metadevice. reference your vsti’s CC table an see which number it is. or instantiate the vsti metadevice an find it in the list.
i would bet you its there, waiting for you!
if its a good plug, then you’ll have volumes on each oscillator.
i imagine you could make some boggling sounds doing this.
it has its advantages.
like for example, you could just gate 1 oscillator while the others jump around it
(that is if it does have more then 1 oscillator)
personally i feel more comfortable using samples now.
instead of constantly having to learn the unformatted mess of vst controls.
i do still use vstis but i narrowed it down to now i only use 5.
long since gone are the days of having 50 billion crap vsts installed!!!
thanx for your suggestions. finally found some free time to test all available trigger vst’s [not many of them] & effects. also tnx for pointing me out to ReNoise Gainer - didn`t know it is very nice plugin, never checked it
well, honestly, the only solving solution for this problem now is to have these patterns that would need gating - would need to be put on speed 3 instead speed 6 and I`ll have all these effects but would need manually to edit them.
I checked for the net today, whole day, and currently one of the best trgger gating plugins would be “SonicBytes Gat’R” - but it is pretty expensive for just retriggering? I might consider even buying it if I don`t find anything similar… Also SonicBytes GatR can do [as far as I tested demo] fast sound triggering even on tracker speed 6?
also… what did you mean when you talk about MetaDevices? if I cant get gating sfx on channel itself, I dont think I`d be able to get it using MetaDevices? or I misunderstand you…?
