I finally finished a song in renoise!!

I’ve owned Renoise for about 10 years now. I’ve always been drawn back to it but never got past the random beat loops phase until recently. I finally got a song to a reasonably completed state and I wanted to share!

Wow 10 years? That’s a long time coming mate. Congratulations to you.

Track sounds very BOC-esque. I like it.

Thanks! I know, it’s been a long time. To be honest, I’ve only just recently started actually finishing songs again after a very long break. Largely packed up music for quite a few years. It’s been a surprise to me how unnnatural the tracker interface feels to me, even after all this time. I’d still rather draw notes as boxes using a screen, but I just love the sampler integration and the way I can slap an LFO/signal follower on almost anything. Maybe I’ll be a pro by the time I’m 70.

Hoping to get a few more tracks somewhere close to completion in, oh, the next 10 years

Your track is really good. The BOC influence is something I like too. If I understand, you quite regularly make tracks, but not with Renoise, that’s it?

If you can’t get along with the tracker interface but want all the benefits from Renoise’s sampler I would definitely take a look at Redux as it is basically the Renoise sampler in VST form.

Thanks a lot! Not really. I haven’t really made any music for quite a few years, but have always just played a little in renoise from time to time, making the odd loop. I recently started playing with hardware again last year and got re-inspired to make music. I mostly use renoise when I just want to sit with my laptop and play.

Yeah, that could well be a solution, I think I’ll give it a shot sometime.

Alternatively, spending a bit of time learning a few more keyboard shortcuts would probably go a long way.
