being able to have a “protected mode” in disk browser, where if you load a sample, you are transported to an empty instrument slot, would be nice.

problem: keyjazzing with instrument#01 ------- decide done - go to disk browser, audition a sample, get it in - oh wait, overwrote sample because no way to tell renoise to always load new sample to new instrument slot.

It’s very late and very unlikely this is considered for 2.8.
You can at least always undo the decision and try to make it a habit to swap to an empty instrument before doing anything with the diskbrowser.
