The album is made 100% in Renoise. I’ve gotten much help and tips on this forum which I’m very grateful for. Already have many plans for the next album. The dance in the video is based on Tetris forms, pretty DIY, done everything myself with a mobile phone
The album will be released on vinyl and cassette 22. November:
If you do 3:04 in “my” country, you’d probably have to pay a lot. Even in this context.
Cassette? Who’s listening to cassettes nowadays? There’s a digital release, too? Anyway, “Format The System” is exactly what we should do, as fast as possible! And you improved your sound composition-wise. There’s still a lot of dynamics in comparison to former projects, but this time without losing its structure. Good one. I like your style. It’s no specific genre, but there are fractions of 80s Electronic, Synthwave and you even “borrowed” some slight Electro elements. 80s sounds in a more modern style. Good luck with your release!
We agree on many things @TNT . And thanks For some reason it’s popular with cassette in Norway these years, there are many MC-labels and not so much else now. But a contemporary music dude wanted to release it on vinyl, so I was lucky.
I’m became very inspired by your music and the stuff that you showed me, I can’t thank you enough. A lot of it has great pace, and is very dance-able, which is important for me to obtain in my music now. Next batch of songs will be a little less prog and more monotone just for the sake of being more dancy.
Here is something I made very recently, inspired by your song, Centrifugal Force:
A “contemporary music dude”, is that a buddy of yours or “just” a dude who likes retro sounds in a modern style? Release on vinyl is justified, but I’m still not sure about that release on cassette, despite that in those years it might be “popular” in Norway. Maybe it’s a temporary Norway thing, but I would assume that it won’t last long. There are some Synthwave dudes who offer cassettes because of the matching nostalgia, but vinyl sells much better in any case. If you have to finance the cassette production yourself, make sure that you don’t waste your money. Digital releases have the greatest potential and don’t cost anything.
Cool, thanks for sharing! Not sure if my songs that I’ve created in the past 16 years ever inspired someone else for music production. The Techno music that I’ve createrd in my youth for sure, but you’re the first one who’s telling me directly that you were inspired by my Electro stuff. And yet it sounds so different in comparison. Very nice. Personally I would probably soften kick and bass a little, but overall it’s a nice mix and it sounds good on laptop speakers, headphones and HiFi speakers. And btw it’s much louder than my Centrifugal Force.
By “contemporary music” I just mean abstract stuff, noise, experimental ambient. I’m definitely the softest on that label. He has been in the business for a while and was a fan of my old metal project as well, so we half ways knew each other through the Norwegian music community already. But yeah, I don’t quite understand the popularity of cassettes, but that’s how it is here xD The label will pay so it’s fine, though.
I think your stuff is really unique, I’ve been searching a lot for good dance-pieces but nothing hits me quite like your electro tracks. I often begin my dance sessions with Centrifugal Force. My songs always differ a lot from what inspires me, it’s often just a feeling, in this case I especially tried to make the rhythm and bass have the same kind of drive, and somewhat the same persistency throughout the song. Great song, I hope you will make more.
Thank you very much, I’m honored! Yeah, I hope to continue with music production next year. Currently I’m absolutely not in the mood to create music (even though it’s starting to itch slighty atm, most likely because I haven’t touched Renoise for almost 2 months now), but for sure I will make more stuff sooner or later.
Thank you! And likewise!
If you’re interested, these are the ones who inspired me the most when it comes to Electro:
a) ERP
b) Plant43
c) Anthony Rother
I especially like their early works from 20-25 years ago. If you like basses with a special “kind of drive”, you gotta check some of ERP’s stuff like El Camino. His style is very special imho.
Very nice track in the video, I love it. Also like those basic shapes and patterns, nice. Maybe though you could improve the video using layering techniques, kaleidoscope effect, coloration of the layers to common color combinations or whatever
@TNT , I have already bought some albums by Plant43 and Anthony Rother, great stuff. I will check ERP I especially like Plant43.
@ffx , Thanks I haven’t made many music videos, those ideas sounds great. I will experiment with it on the live show videos, and my next music video (probably a while).
