I like my car alarm, it chirps when people come too close to remind them not to touch!
I think it depends on the alarm and how it’s calibrated. Plus, if you have a convertable it’s all too easy for people to reach in and take things, and worse yet if you leave the softtop closed and someone decides to cut through the roof. At the very minimum it makes their task more stressful.
Not a perfect science, but defintely better than nothing. I did watch a video one time about an alarm that electrocuted people in the drivers seat if the car started without the key. I’m sure it’s on youtube. Anyways, that alarm system was obviously banned.
